What type of English do you teach?
I'm from England, UK, but I spend many years living in Canada, so I'm comfortable teaching both varieties of English. Some of my students are studying English with the desire of coming to the UK to do post-graduate studies, while others work for multi-nationals and have regular interaction with American colleagues. I adapt the language I use based on your needs.
What's included in the class package?
It depends on the class you've chosen. I will explain the different options during the initial free consultation and recommend a package to suit your needs. You'll get full details in your confirmation email and PDF after booking the session/package.
Conversation Boosts are more informal and flexible. You can specify your chosen focus when you book the class, and I will guide the conversation to give you ample opportunity to practise vocabulary and grammar appropriate for the topic and your level. You will receive an email with feedback within 24 hours.
Prep&Progress packages are designed for students who want more guidance. After booking a class, you will receive an email with a study pack custom made to suit your interests and level. It will help you prepare for the live conversation session, in which will we practise the new structures. After the class, you will receive feedback and a homework assignment.
How do I book a class?
Easy! Once you've purchased a lesson or package, you’ll receive a confirmation PDF with a link and QR code to book your session via Calendly. Just choose the time that suits you best.
I need to do IELTS but I don't see the option!
I have been preparing students to take the IELTS exam since 2011 and am a former IELTS speaking examiner. I do not have a 'cookie-cutter' IELTS course because I don't want you to waste time focusing on skills you're already proficient at. Book a free consultation chat and I will be happy to discuss options to help you pass the test as quickly and painlessly as possible!
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens! You can easily reschedule with at least 12 hours' notice using your booking link. Late cancellations may result in a missed session. Please read the Student Policy and feel free to contact me if you have more questions.
What technology do I need?
Taking online classes is easy! You just need a stable internet connection, a laptop or tablet, and Zoom (free to download). It's important to test your audio (headphones and microphone) and video (camera) before each Zoom session.
The free initial consultation chat takes place on Zoom so we can make sure there are no technical problems.
Please note that it is possible to take classes on your phone, especially if you would just like to practise natural conversation. However, many students prefer being at a computer to access the chat and see feedback comments in real time.
Do you teach children?
I am qualified to teach children, but I have specialised in teaching adults for over 20 years! If you would like to discuss the possibility of classes for your child, please contact me. I may recommend one of my colleagues if I feel they would be a better fit.
Do you give homework?
Of course! I'm a teacher - we love assigning homework!
But, I understand that you are very busy and may not have time to complete it. I provide guided prompts to help you reinforce the language we used in the live session.
For those who want detailed feedback on their homework, I offer two options:
Written homework check: corrections, explanations, and upgraded language options.
Written and video check: all of the above, plus narration for you to use as shadowing practise to improve pronunciation.
Please note: IELTS and other exam preparation classes will come with a considerable amount of homework that is not optional if you wish to succeed.

I sometimes offer discounted trial sessions depending on availability. If you're curious about working together, feel free to reach out and ask.
